Good Toy Guide give Nappy Laundry hankies a great review December 1, 2009

Filed under: News — Nicole @ 8:28 pm

“They’re really bright and funky and environmentally friendly - how many boxes of tissues do we get through in a week?” Buy online at The Nappy Laundry Price £2.50 *****

Initial thoughts: They’re really bright and funky and feature numbers (sums) or the alphabet. They are ‘child’ sized and made from a nice robust cotton. A really nice idea and environmentally friendly (how many packets of tissues do we get through in a week?) We liked: They’re really appealing to children and my two were happy to have one in their pocket. They were on the verge of being too ‘babyish’ for my 6 year old, but he was happy with the numbers hankies (“I can do sums while blowing my nose, Mummy” – bonus!)

Weren’t keen on: After a couple of washes the colours started to fade a little. Other than that, they are really sturdy cotton and stood the up to the test pretty well. Overall: A nice stocking filler and at £2.50 a packet, Santa could be generous and make sure all your little friends have a handy pack too! [By Tara, Sticky Fingers]

The Nappy Laundry Company, based in Stonehaven, celebrates its second birthday having prevented a staggering six tonnes of disposable nappies from going into landfill.

Providing a unique service to the North East of Scotland, the company helps make real nappies a realistic choice for busy mums in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City and North Angus.

Commenting on achievements of The Nappy Laundry Company, First Minister Alex Salmond (MSP) said: “Using real nappies has long been recognised as the most natural and environmentally friendly way to bring up baby. The drawback has always been the amount of work involved, which understandably, puts many hard-pressed parents off.

“Initiatives such as those of the Nappy Laundry Company have helped to take the work out of real nappies, and have saved tonnes of disposable nappies from going to landfill. That’s something which is good in the present, and even better for the future.”

Business owner and mum of two Nicole Hepburn said:  “At the moment a staggering eight million disposable nappies are thrown away everyday in the United Kingdom with the majority of these ending up in landfill, so any reduction in this is a great achievement.”

Offering a number of service options there is something for everyone, and as part of their birthday celebrations The Nappy Laundry Company has launched a new two-week trial service.

To find out more about the services, including the new trial service, provided by The Nappy Laundry Company phone 01569 767342 or visit www.thenappylaundry.com
